About this file

This addendum issued January 10, 2025, by the School Board of Polk County, Florida (Competitive Solicitation 011-DW-0325) provides clarification and revised bid items for the Commodity Processing Foods solicitation. The addendum clarifies that the solicitation encompasses eight total items spanning chicken, beef, and apple commodity processing rather than applesauce and chicken only. The revised bid items include two applesauce cup products (Cinnamon Applesauce Cup and Banana Strawberry Applesauce Cup) and two beef products (Fully Cooked Meatballs and Fully Cooked Beef Patty Charbroil). All products must meet USDA Child Nutrition Program standards, with applesauce cups providing 1/2 cup fruit servings in individual plastic portion containers with foil lids, and beef products containing zero transfat, no artificial colors or flavors, and meeting specific meat equivalent requirements. The preferred models specified are JTM CP5049 and JTM CP5683 Maid-Rite equipment (Model 75156-93330). The contract term begins July 1, 2025, with a one-year initial period and four optional one-year renewals, with bid submissions required by February 3, 2025, at 3:00 PM (ET) through www.myvendorlink.com.

The addendum addresses vendor questions regarding product classifications and processing requirements, establishing that beef processing utilizes course ground beef (Item 100154) and that all products must comply with CN labeling requirements and USDA Child Nutrition Program guidelines. Vendors must maintain $1,000,000 per occurrence Commercial General Liability insurance and ensure at least 51% of final processed products consist of domestically grown agricultural commodities. The estimated annual contract value is $1,500,000, though this represents a non-guaranteed purchase amount. Three vendors have been recommended for award: Tyson Prepared Foods, Inc. (Items 1-4), JTM Provisions Co., Inc. (Items 5-6), and Peterson Farms Fresh LLC (Items 7-8). Price adjustments during contract extensions will be based on the Producer Price Index-Commodities, and all vendors must comply with federal and state regulations including Buy American provisions, E-Verify requirements, civil rights compliance, drug-free workplace certification, and federal debarment exclusions.
