About this file
This document is an Exhibit of Specifications for the Major Bridge Maintenance Yaquina Bay Bridge Pier 2 Dolphin Replacement Project, prepared by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) using the 2024 Oregon Standard Specifications for Construction. The project involves replacing and maintaining Pier 2 of Bridge No. 01820, with specific work including removing existing pier protection, installing new steel piles, preparing and coating metal structures, and adding navigation lights. The project requires detailed environmental protections, including marine mammal and aquatic species protection measures, with work limited to an in-water work period from November 1 to February 15. Key technical requirements include using a vibratory hammer for pile installation, maintaining navigation lights, and implementing strict turbidity and water quality monitoring protocols.
The project involves significant environmental and technical specifications, with precise requirements for marine construction. The total volume of material to be filled or discharged is limited to 10.8 cubic yards, with excavation restricted to 56.7 cubic yards. The estimated quantity of structural steel is 770 pounds, and the project includes specific protective coatings for steel piles using a 4-coat system with tar from a qualified product list. Payment will be made for various items including turbidity monitoring, LED obstruction lights, and structural steel maintenance, with no separate payment for preparing and coating new metal work. The project emphasizes environmental protection, requiring minimal disturbance to marine ecosystems and strict compliance with state and federal regulatory permits.
