UNSPSC 40142206: Sluice gate

A type of device that regulates the flux by stopping or allowing the water flow in the channel by closing or opening the flat-plated gate up and down.

UNSPSC 40142206 Sluice gate, a Commodity code, shows minimal recent activity aligned with its nominal scope. The recent state and local opportunities posted under this code do not reflect procurement of sluice gates or water-control equipment; instead, they span oxygen cascade systems for emergency medical services, refrigerant extraction and reclamation, medical gas inspection and certification, occupational medical surveillance, atmospheric monitoring instruments for water utilities, and welding materials and supplies. None of these categories relates to hydraulic gates or water flow control.

The mismatch between the code's definition and the actual opportunities suggests either systematic miscoding in the jurisdiction posting these solicitations or that sluice gate procurement does not generate routine state and local activity. State and local governments that manage water infrastructure—state departments of environmental management, water authorities, county public works departments, and municipal water and wastewater utilities—would be the expected buyers for sluice gates, but no such procurement appears in the recent record. Without relevant recent opportunities to characterize, this code presents limited visibility into current market demand at the state and local level.
