About this agency

The Department of Health and Human Services National Institutes of Health Center for Information Technology is a civilian sub-agency within the NIH that procures information technology services, infrastructure, and support to enable the biomedical research mission across the National Institutes of Health. The Center contracts for IT infrastructure, software development, cybersecurity, network services, and IT staffing augmentation.

The Center has awarded 668 federal contracts since 2004, with combined potential value of $2.75 billion and $1.68 billion obligated to date. Recent contract activity has accelerated notably: 51 awards in 2022, 21 in 2023, 19 in 2024, 60 in 2025, and 101 year-to-date in 2026, the most recent recorded award closing on October 1, 2026. The Center has worked with 210 distinct prime contractors across its portfolio history.

The competitive landscape is moderately concentrated by award count and highly fragmented by potential value. Thundercat Technology LLC leads recent activity with 35 awards and $97.4 million combined potential value over the last five years; New TECH Solutions, Inc. follows with 27 awards valued at $23 million; and Oneida Communications, Inc. holds 11 awards valued at $46.3 million. These top three account for 36 percent of recent award count. By potential value, however, the top five primes—led by Deloitte Consulting LLP at $149.8 million, Thundercat Technology LLC at $97.4 million, and General Dynamics Information Technology Inc. at $49.5 million—cover only 14 percent of combined potential value across the five-year window, reflecting a long tail of smaller-value contractors. The Center contracts with a high volume of small-business awardees: 55 percent of awards carry no set-aside designation, while 41 percent are small-business set-asides (8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, WOSB combined). Competitive 8(a) awards, HUBZone awards, sole-source 8(a) awards, and other small-business designations together represent fewer than 2 percent of all awards.

No recent contract opportunities or grant opportunities are recorded against the Center in the provided source material.
