Cost-Benefit of Incentive-based Smoking Cessation for Pregnant Women
The purpose of this FOA is to assist applicants with the preparation of an application that aligns with this announcement. The intent is to solicit proposals for a study to assess the cost-benefit of a smoking cessation intervention that targets pregnant smokers. The intent is to evaluate a high intensity and low intensity contingency management (CM) intervention on prenatal smoking cessation. The suggested approach is a three-arm randomized controlled trial to assess smoking abstinence at end of pregnancy and cost-benefit of different intensity levels of CM on prenatal smoking cessation. The 3 arms would include: 1) a high intensity CM intervention for smoking cessation during pregnancy; 2) a low intensity CM intervention for smoking cessation during pregnancy, and 3) standard of care.

Funded organizations will identify all resident sudden and unexpected infant (Component A) or infant/child (Component B) deaths, review cases through their Child Death Review process, compile and enter case information into the National Fatality Review Case Reporting System, and analyze data to calculate incidence rates, identify disparities between subpopulations, and inform prevention activities, including reducing disparities. In addition, funds are available to develop SUID prevention strategies informed by data and American Academy of Pediatrics guidance (Component C).

CDC announces the availability of fiscal year 2015 (FY15) funds to implement FOA DP15-1508: Working with Publicly Funded Health Centers to Reduce Teen Pregnancy Among Youth from Vulnerable Populations. This program is a new five-year initiative to 1) enhance publicly funded health centers' capacity to provide youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health services and 2) increase the number of youth accessing sexual and reproductive health services by (a) working with youth-serving systems to develop strategies to refer and link vulnerable youth to care and (b) increasing awareness of the health centers’ services in the local community through communication efforts.
