The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) awarded a $150,105,063 Cooperative Agreement to Metox International, Inc. under the Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chain Demonstrations and Commercial Applications program (CFDA 81.253) to expand domestic manufacturing of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) wire. The funding will be used to establish a new advanced energy manufacturing facility, specifically in a coal community, to scale up domestic production of HTS wire. This project aims to support the transition to a decarbonized energy system by increasing domestic manufacturing capabilities for critical clean energy technologies with applications in power transmission, magnetic-confinement fusion, and advanced cable technologies.
