About this opportunity
The Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Lab is seeking applicants for the "Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Battery Materials Processing and Battery Manufacturing Grants Round II" funding opportunity. This grant will support projects across the battery supply chain, including cathode and anode materials production, electrolyte and electrolyte salts manufacturing, and pre-industrial scale cell manufacturing. Key objectives include expanding domestic production capabilities and reducing foreign dependency on critical materials. Applicants will be evaluated on their technical approach, project management, and ability to execute projects within the 24-60 month performance period. Applications are due by February 10, 2025 and must be submitted through the Infrastructure Exchange platform.
This funding opportunity has approximately $725 million in total available funding, with individual awards ranging from $50-200 million. The program prioritizes applicants who will not use materials from Foreign Entities of Concern or export recovered materials to them. Projects will be performed at various locations across the United States to support an equitable transition to a decarbonized energy system.
