About this opportunity
The Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District is seeking proposals for a comprehensive boiler replacement project at Williams Intermediate School located in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. The procurement involves removing and disposing of two existing inoperable HB Smith boilers and installing two new HB Smith BRTS/28HE-8 cast-iron, knock-down hot-water boilers or approved equivalents. The project requires full-scale replacement including concrete pad preparation, hydronic piping modification with fiberglass insulation, electrical and venting system connections, safety control installations, and comprehensive operator training for district maintenance staff. A mandatory walkthrough is scheduled for November 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with bid proposals due by December 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM. The district has established strict contractor qualifications, including a minimum of ten years of verifiable experience installing commercial hydronic boiler systems, completion of at least three comparable K-12 or municipal projects within the past five years, employment of Massachusetts-licensed professionals, DCAMM Certification in HVAC, and OSHA 10-hour certification for all on-site personnel.
The contract requires a bid bond of 5 percent of the total bid amount and performance and payment bonds at 100 percent. The estimated construction cost ranges between $150,000 and $225,000, with a project completion deadline of December 31, 2025. Prevailing wage regulations under M.G.L. Chapter 149, Sections 26-27 will apply to the project. Boiler equipment specifications mandate cast-iron sectional construction, approximately 850,000 BTU/hr output per unit, minimum 80 percent combustion efficiency, and compatibility with existing Power Flame burners. The awarded contractor must provide a one-year warranty including twenty-four-hour service. Substitutions for boiler equipment will only be considered if submitted at least four business days prior to bid opening, with detailed technical documentation demonstrating full equivalence. The project falls under the DCAMM Category of Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC), and the bid award is scheduled for December 5, 2025.
