About this opportunity

The School Board of Citrus County, Florida is conducting an Invitation to Bid (ITB 2026-17) for welding materials, supplies, equipment, and gases to support technical training classes and high school welding programs. The procurement is structured into three categories: Category 1 seeks firm, fixed unit prices for specific welding materials and equipment including electrodes, tungsten electrodes, welding helmets, plasma cutters, and air compressors; Category 2 allows for percentage mark-ups or discounts on additional items; and Category 3 covers industrial gases such as nitrogen, oxygen, acetylene, argon, carbon dioxide, and helium in various cylinder sizes. Respondents must have a minimum of three years of experience providing welding materials and services within Florida and maintain all necessary licenses and permits. The solicitation requires detailed pricing submissions, including unit prices, extended prices, and delivery fees. Key deadlines include a question submission deadline of November 13, 2025 at 12:00 PM EST, with final bids due on December 2, 2025 at 2:00 PM EST. The School Board anticipates award approval on January 13, 2026, with an initial one-year contract period and potential for three additional one-year renewals.

The procurement does not specify specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. The Notice of Intended Decision reveals that the solicitation received 1,229 document downloads, with only two bids submitted and one deemed non-responsive. Crumpton Welding Supply & Equipment, Inc. from Tampa, Florida, was recommended as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder with a total bid of $22,891.67. The vendor offered a 15 percent mark-up or discount on additional items in Category 2, with specific percentage variations for different product categories. The contract allows district operational departments, including maintenance and food service, to purchase from the awarded contract at bid prices. While no specific budget range is explicitly stated, the total bid amount and the comprehensive nature of the solicitation suggest a moderate-value procurement focused on supporting educational and operational welding needs across Citrus County's school district.
