About this file
This is a Notice of Intended Decision for Invitation to Bid (ITB) 2026-17 issued by the School Board of Citrus County, Florida, announcing the award recommendation for welding materials, supplies, equipment, and gases. The solicitation seeks to establish an agreement with qualified respondents to provide welding materials, supplies, equipment, and industrial gases on an as-needed basis to schools and district operational departments, with primary utilization in technical training classes and high school welding programs. The contract encompasses three categories: Category 1 includes filler metals, consumables, tools and equipment, and welding accessories; Category 2 provides percentage mark-up or discount options for additional items not listed in Category 1; and Category 3 covers industrial gases such as nitrogen, oxygen, acetylene, argon, carbon dioxide, and helium in various cylinder sizes. The solicitation received 1,229 document downloads, 2 bids submitted, 1 non-responsive bid, and 1 no-bid response. The bid opening occurred on December 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with anticipated School Board approval scheduled for January 13, 2026. The contract period runs from January 13, 2026, through January 12, 2027, with three optional one-year renewal periods.
Crumpton Welding Supply & Equipment, Inc., located at 1602 N. 34th Street, Tampa, Florida, was recommended as the lowest, responsive, and responsible bidder and is the intended award recipient. Crumpton's total bid for the tabulated items across all three categories was $22,891.67, compared to the alternative bid from Matheson Tri-Gas, which was deemed non-responsive due to incomplete bid submission. Crumpton's pricing includes unit prices for electrode consumables ranging from $10.05 to $38.00 per item, other materials and supplies with various unit prices, and industrial gas cylinder exchanges and rental fees. The vendor offered 15 percent mark-up or discount on additional items in Category 2, with specific percentage variations noted for certain product categories. No protest deadline, bond requirements, or funding source information is detailed in this notice, but vendors have the right to file a protest within the time prescribed in Section 120.57(3), Florida Statutes.
