About this opportunity
The Utah Department of Transportation is soliciting bids for an additional provider of Tau Systems Crash Cushion and End Treatment systems and parts under IFB #DOT260297MP, with bids due June 19, 2026. Award will be made to a single additional provider on the basis of overall low price per system.
The scope covers Universal TAU II Wide systems (Type A Crash Cushions) and Universal TAU M systems (Type B Crash Cushions) supplied on an as-needed, on-call basis for state highway safety applications. All systems must comply with UDOT Standard Specification 02843 and referenced UDOT Standard Drawings. New systems must be delivered within 30 days of request; replacement parts within 72 hours. Documented delivery delays may result in contract cancellation or removal from UDOT's approved product list. The awardee must submit pricing in the format specified in Attachment B and the Scope of Work (Section 3.2), covering system price plus prices for five designated parts, with a percentage discount applied to unlisted items. Delivery costs are reimbursed at actual freight company billing or documented self-delivery costs.
The contract term runs through January 25, 2028, with no renewal options. Initial pricing is guaranteed for one year from the effective date. Subsequent price increases require equal guarantee periods, submission at least 30 days prior to the effective date, and documentation (such as Federal market index analysis) demonstrating a logical mathematical link between current and proposed pricing. UDOT receives immediate benefit of any market decreases or available discounts.
Mandatory requirements include workers' compensation and commercial general liability insurance of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $3,000,000 aggregate; one-year warranty on all goods covering performance, defects, and suitability for intended purposes; F.O.B. Destination Freight Prepaid and Allowed delivery; compliance with federal and state employment laws and E-Verify requirements for Utah-based employees; and indemnification obligations. Bidders must submit vendor setup forms, certifications regarding debarment, conflicts of interest, tax liens, and material non-disclosure, and claims of business confidentiality if applicable. Pricing and cost proposals are excluded from confidentiality protection.
