About this opportunity

The City of Long Beach is issuing a Request for Information (RFI No. CE-24-490) to solicit community-based organizations interested in providing after-school violence prevention programming incorporating therapeutic music and horticulture, with responses due by 11:00 a.m. on August 21, 2024. This is an exploratory RFI only; the City will determine next steps after reviewing submissions and may issue a formal Request for Proposals if multiple qualified vendors express interest.

Programming will be targeted at youth in North Long Beach and conducted at the Michelle Obama Library Learning Garden. The scope encompasses sustainability-focused gardening lessons, music-centered curriculum promoting emotional regulation and self-awareness, repairs or replacement of existing garden beds, and youth violence prevention outcomes. Respondents must specify student capacity and age ranges served, describe unique value propositions, identify required City resources (staff, facilities, equipment, software, data), and define success metrics. The pilot program is structured for six months with an option to renew for an additional six months.

No specific funding amount, pricing terms, contract value, or set-aside programs are identified in the RFI. The City will review all submissions between August 26 and August 30, 2024. Responses must be submitted electronically through the City's Long Beach Buys portal; late submissions or those submitted through other channels will not be accepted. Respondents must certify authorization to submit on behalf of their organization and limit approach descriptions to 250 words or less. All costs associated with responding are the sole responsibility of respondents. Contact for inquiries is Abraham Torres at rfppurchasing@longbeach.gov or (562) 570-6200.
