About this file
This is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the City of Long Beach seeking community-based organizations to provide after-school violence prevention programming incorporating therapeutic music and horticulture. The City seeks free or low-cost programming targeted at youth in North Long Beach, to be conducted at the Michelle Obama Library Learning Garden. The RFI was released on August 14, 2024, with responses due by 11:00 a.m. on August 21, 2024. Responses must be submitted electronically through the City's Long Beach Buys portal. The City will review submissions between August 26-30, 2024, to determine next steps. If multiple vendors express qualified interest, the City may issue a formal Request for Proposals to competitively award a contract. The pilot program is structured for six months with an option to renew for an additional six months. No bidder's conference or site visit is specified in the RFI.
The RFI emphasizes that respondents should provide programs centered on sustainability-focused gardening lessons, music-centered curriculum promoting emotional regulation and self-awareness, repairs or replacement of existing garden beds, and youth violence prevention objectives. Proposed programs must specify student capacity and age ranges served, describe unique value propositions, identify required City resources, and define success metrics. This is a Request for Information only and does not constitute a promise to issue an RFP or award a contract. All costs associated with responding to the RFI are the sole responsibility of respondents. Contact for inquiries is Abraham Torres at rfppurchasing@longbeach.gov. No specific funding amount, pricing terms, or set-asides are identified in the RFI document.
