About this opportunity

Granite School District is announcing a notice of intent to award a contract for theatrical licensing for musicals and plays without engaging in a standard procurement process under Utah Code Part 63G-6a Part 8, with a challenge-submission deadline of June 2, 2026. This is not a solicitation and requires no action if you agree with the award determination.

Any vendor claiming to be an alternative qualified source must submit a challenge via email to Angela Pontius (alpontius@graniteschools.org) by June 2, 2026, including the contesting vendor's name and contact person; detailed documentation that competing sources exist for the procurement item; evidence that the vendor can provide a comparable or better product meeting or exceeding the specifications; documentation of capability to provide the same proprietary item or an equivalent; and, if transitional costs justify the sole-source determination, a cost comparison showing the vendor's anticipated transitional costs against those identified by the District.

The District's determination rests on one or more of three grounds under Utah statute: only one source exists for the item, transitional costs are a significant consideration, or the award circumstances make standard procurement impractical and contrary to the District's best interest. The attached Purchase Order Terms and Conditions for Goods establish that all contractors must carry workers' compensation insurance, commercial general liability coverage of at least $1 million per occurrence and $2 million aggregate, and commercial automobile liability of $1 million per occurrence if vehicles are used. Goods must be delivered F.O.B. destination within five days of purchase order receipt, with a one-year warranty against defects. The District retains termination-for-convenience rights with five days' written notice.
