About this opportunity
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources Forest Service (DNR) is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a Land Management Contractor to provide technical forest management and forestry assistance for the Chesapeake Forest and Pocomoke State Forest lands. The selected contractor will be responsible for the sale of forest products, implementation of silvicultural activities and cultural treatments, and adherence to Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certification protocols on the 75,760 acres of the Chesapeake Forest and the 18,492 acres of the Pocomoke State Forest located across six Maryland counties. The contract term is for a five-year base period with two one-year option periods. Proposals are due by March 30, 2023, at 1:00 PM local time, and the current land management contract expires on August 31, 2023. The selected contractor will work with the incumbent to ensure a smooth transition and assumption of ongoing operations.
This procurement does not include any Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) or Veteran-Owned Small Business Enterprise (VSBE) subcontracting goals. The current Land Management Contractor has been in place since 2002, and the awarded contract is expected to be a multi-year agreement with the potential for renewal options. The RFP outlines a pricing structure that includes a fixed monthly Base Fee, a fixed per-acre Implementation Fee, and reimbursement of Eligible Expenses, but does not provide a specific budget range.
