About this opportunity
The City of Fort Myers, located in Lee County, Florida, is pursuing a sole source procurement for a water pump under opportunity number 25-007-Sole Source. The procurement is specifically for a replacement water pump to be installed at the South Wastewater Plant, designed to provide the proper gallons per minute (GPM) for new bio solids equipment and overall plant operations. The procurement is being conducted under Florida State Statute 287.057(3)(c), which allows for direct negotiation with a single source. Carter and Verplanck, Inc. has been identified as the exclusive supplier, with an authorization letter from Flowserve Corporation validating their sole representation. The procurement is structured as a NO VALUE designation, meaning no monetary value is explicitly attached to the contract. The solicitation was posted on October 21, 2024, with a response deadline of November 4, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. (ET). Any potential alternative suppliers are invited to submit product information, qualifications, and capabilities to the Procurement Representative via email (rtheriot@cityftmyers.com) during the 15-calendar-day posting period.
The procurement does not appear to have specific set-aside designations or restrictions on responding organizations. The current incumbent and proposed sole source vendor is Carter and Verplanck, Inc., authorized by Flowserve Corporation as the exclusive water sales representative for the specified territory. The specific pump being procured is a 10EML-4 Stage Bowl Assembly vertical electric pump with detailed specifications, including a 500 GPM flow rate, 159 FT head, and a 30 HP motor operating at 1800 RPM, 3 Phase, 60 Hz, and 460 Volts. The quote from Flowserve indicates a total pump assembly price of $81,508 USD, with a lead time of 26 weeks from receipt of a fully executable Purchase Order. The pump will integrate with the city's existing bio solids equipment, replacing an old, worn-out pump. The procurement process allows for potential alternative suppliers to demonstrate their capabilities, though Carter and Verplanck appears to be the preferred and likely sole source for this specific equipment.
