About this opportunity

Salt Lake County is soliciting bids for demolition and enabling works as Phase 1 of the Salt Palace Convention Center & Entertainment District renovation project, with bids due October 29, 2026, a mandatory site visit on October 13, and a pre-bid meeting on October 1. This is the first physical work package clearing and preparing the site for future construction across the Salt Palace Convention Center, Abravanel Hall, and the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art (UMOCA) rebuild in Salt Lake City.

The scope encompasses demolition of the Salt Palace Convention Center and associated buildings; cutting and capping of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, low-voltage, and fire-alarm systems; temporary framing; and enabling work to allow phased construction while maintaining operations in the Convention Center and Abravanel Hall as separate venues. Fire protection, fire alarm, and MEP systems serving occupied areas must remain in service throughout. The work coordinates with Smith Entertainment Group's contractor for any work impacting the Salt Palace remodel.

The construction manager/general contractor is Hunt Jacobsen Joint Venture (HJJV). Bidding occurs through BuildingConnected, not the U3P portal; prospective bidders should contact Jacquie White at Jacquie.White@aecom.com for access and procedural questions. The site visit and pre-bid meeting are mandatory. The project address is 100 South West Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah 84101.
