About this opportunity

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Maintenance Office is conducting a single-source procurement for specialized emergency response trailers, specifically seeking to purchase one 28' 11-Station Restroom Trailer, one 28' 8D Shower Trailer, and two 44' 12 Z Bunk Station Trailers from Satellite Industries, Inc. This procurement is targeting specialized mobile infrastructure designed to provide safe, comfortable accommodations for FDOT employees during emergency response and recovery operations. The solicitation was posted on August 21, 2025, with a firm deadline for vendor information submission set for 5:00 p.m. EST on September 12, 2025. The trailers are highly specialized, featuring detailed specifications including specific station configurations, water capacities, weight parameters, and axle configurations. FDOT is explicitly seeking vendor information to verify that Satellite Industries, Inc. remains the sole source capable of meeting their precise emergency support trailer requirements, with the procurement process following the guidelines outlined in section 120.57(3) of Florida Statutes.

The procurement appears to be a direct, non-competitive acquisition targeting a specific vendor without traditional competitive bidding processes. No explicit set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises are mentioned in the documentation. The total estimated dollar value for this procurement is $470,500.00, covering the four specialized trailers designed for emergency base camp operations. Satellite Industries, Inc. is the known and intended vendor, with FDOT justifying the single-source selection based on the company's unique ability to provide trailers meeting their exact specifications. The trailers will be used to support FDOT crews before, during, and after declared emergencies, providing essential housing, bathroom, and shower facilities. While the procurement documents do not outline detailed integration requirements, the trailers are expected to complement existing emergency response infrastructure and support FDOT's operational readiness during critical response scenarios.
