About this opportunity

The City of Sandy Springs is issuing notice of its intent to award a sole-source contract to Intelligent Transportation Services, Inc. for Sensys Networks FlexMag2 detection sensors and installation epoxy supporting the City's SCOOT traffic-signal system, with challenges due by September 1, 2026. The sole-source justification rests on Sensys component compatibility with the City's existing in-pavement detection infrastructure and lane-specific SCOOT data integration; Intelligent Transportation Services holds the exclusive authorized reseller and support authorization from Sensys Networks for Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi.

The procurement covers 60 Sensys Networks FlexMag2 wireless vehicle-detection sensors (model VSN240-F-2) and 50 tubes of Sensys installation epoxy (model VSN240-EPX-SOT-01) functioning as maintenance and replacement stock for detection equipment supporting approximately 75 traffic signals. The City's market research documented that alternative detection technologies—Currux Vision, Wavetronix radar, and Iteris Vector—either failed testing, lacked required lane-by-lane capability, or would introduce costlier, incompatible solutions. The former Georgia Sensys representative is no longer supporting the product line. Public searches of GDOT, Georgia statewide contracts, Sourcewell, OMNIA, BuyBoard, and federal records identified no active contracts with Intelligent Transportation Services offering an alternative procurement pathway.

The estimated contract cost is $37,000 plus freight. Any supplier believing it can meet the City's stated requirements may submit a written challenge with supporting documentation of capability before the closing date.
