About this opportunity

The School Board of Marion County, Florida is seeking to establish a term contract for science supplies and equipment through Bid #4090AH, with the primary objective of securing a discounted catalog of instructional teaching aids for various schools and departments. The procurement aims to select vendors who can provide a comprehensive online platform with firm, fixed percentage educational discounts, preferably through a URL link with generic or employee-specific login credentials. Vendors must offer a web portal allowing schools to build and print carts with discounted prices, facilitating a "Point, Click, and Print" purchasing process. Key deliverables include an accessible online catalog of science supplies and equipment with transparent, consistent pricing throughout the contract term. The bid requires vendors to maintain a stable discount structure, with potential for occasional sales promotions. Critical dates include a bid question deadline of September 13, 2024, bid response due date of September 18, 2024 at 2:00 PM, and board approval scheduled for November 12, 2024. The initial contract term will run from November 1, 2024, through October 31, 2025, with potential renewals for up to three additional one-year periods.

No specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises were explicitly mentioned in the procurement documents. The bid tabulation sheet reveals numerous potential vendors, including Capital Microscope Services, Carolina Biological Supply Company, Fisher Scientific, Flinn Scientific, School Specialty, and VWR International, among others. The budgeted resources for this contract are $135,000, with vendor discount offerings ranging from 0% to 35% across various science supply catalogs. The procurement is structured as an "as-needed" contract, allowing schools and departments to purchase items through the selected vendor's discounted platform. Vendors are required to provide comprehensive online ordering capabilities, transparent pricing, and flexible shipping terms. The School Board reserves the right to bid separately on any items deemed in the district's best interest and prohibits vendors from referencing discounts from other contract awards. Prior to issuing the bid, the district conducted a review of Florida state purchasing agreements to ensure economic advantageousness.
