About this opportunity
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has issued a Small Business Minor B contract opportunity (Contract Number 10A2826) for a highway safety project in Amador County, specifically near Jackson at various locations along Route 49. The primary objective is to modify seven crosswalks, transforming them from traditional markings to ladder-style configurations, involving approximately 10,960 square feet of thermoplastic crosswalk and pavement marking with enhanced wet night visibility. The project requires comprehensive work including lead compliance planning, traffic control systems, pedestrian access routes, and street sweeping, with all work to be completed within 20 working days. Bidders must submit electronic proposals by September 26, 2025, directly to arlena.tedder@dot.ca.gov, with strict guidelines that bids over $461,000 will be automatically rejected. Required qualifications include a prime contractor who must be a certified Small Business with either a Class A or applicable Class C contractor's license, and submission of various mandatory forms such as a Subcontractor List and Small Business Status form.
The procurement is specifically designated as a Small Business contract, with no mandatory Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) participation goal, though DVBE participation is encouraged. Contractors must be prepared to provide payment bonds and insurance upon potential contract award. The estimated project value is $277,130.00, with the contract to be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder. Potential bidders must comply with specific requirements including Department of Industrial Relations registration, submission of a non-collusion declaration, and electronic signature on proposal documents. The project utilizes the 2024 Edition of Standard Specifications and involves precise technical specifications for pavement delineation, crosswalk modifications, and associated traffic control measures. Bidders failing to execute the contract may face potential consequences including liability for damages or being listed as ineligible for future Caltrans projects.
