About this opportunity
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is seeking a certified small business contractor to execute the SB Minor B 01A6505 project, which involves modifying signal, lighting, and traffic monitoring systems across multiple highway routes in Mendocino County. Specifically, the project encompasses electrical work on Routes 20, 101, 175, and 222, with key deliverables including installing microwave vehicle detection systems, accessible pedestrian signals, traffic counters, and cameras at six locations in Willits, Fort Bragg, and Ukiah. The contractor must possess a Class A or applicable Class C license and complete all work within 30 working days of contract award. The project's quote is due on May 7, 2025, with a total estimated project cost of $350,000. Bidders must submit comprehensive documentation including a Subcontractor List, Contract Requirements form, and California Civil Rights Laws Certification, with strict requirements that any bid over $461,000 will be automatically rejected.
This procurement is specifically designated for small businesses, with contractors required to be certified as such at the time of quote submission. While Caltrans establishes no specific Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) contract goal, they encourage DVBE participation in the project. Bidders must submit their proposals electronically to Justina.Binsfeld@dot.ca.gov, with payment bonds and insurance required at the time of award for the low bidder. The contract includes provisions for potential damages up to 10% of the bid amount if the contractor refuses the award, and disqualification may occur for contractors in default on existing contracts. Successful contractors will be responsible for maintaining existing traffic management system elements and implementing new infrastructure upgrades across the specified highway segments in rural Mendocino County.
