About this opportunity
The City of Peachtree City, Georgia is seeking bids on complete resurfacing of Riley Track, including removal and disposal of existing rubber and asphalt surfaces, installation of new asphalt and synthetic track surface on the oval and high jump and long jump event areas, and restriping, with bids due September 2, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. The scope encompasses approximately 4,514 square yards of rubber surface removal and replacement, 4,514 square yards of asphalt removal, 530 cubic yards of gravel and subgrade material removal, 530 cubic yards of granular aggregate base installation, and 506 tons of asphalt paving. The track must be relined to its current configuration; field markings shall not be changed to International Association of Athletics Federations competition standards.
The bid form includes a base bid with ten line items and three alternate surface material options: single-component polyurethane structural spray-on base mat, two-component polyurethane structural spray-on base mat, and a sandwich system with squeegeed polyurethane coating and broadcast rubber granules. The City Engineer rejected a proposed substitution of Plexitrac Lightning and Plexitrac Accelerator materials. Bidders may price interior curbing only or interior and exterior curbing; final selection will be based on submitted pricing.
A mandatory pre-bid meeting was held onsite and attended by two vendors. Addendum #1 (issued July 29, 2022) addressed four key bidder questions regarding material substitutions, field marking requirements, pavement specifications, and curbing options. Addendum #2 (issued July 29, 2022) provided modifications and clarifications. Contractors requesting additional days beyond the included inclement weather allowance must submit temperature constraint documentation; reasonable requests result in change order extensions to the substantial completion date.
The City received one bid and awarded the project to Deluxe Athletics at $457,512.30 following staff review and reference verification. The project is funded through the Capital Improvement Program Fund. The existing track, over 10 years old, requires immediate repair due to rubber surface deterioration and significant asphalt base cracking.
