About this opportunity

The Kansas Turnpike Authority (KTA) is soliciting a Request for Quote (RFQ 10307-2) for the procurement of one (1) Severe Duty Cab Chassis to be used with a digger derrick body. The solicitation requires a new medium duty truck with specific technical specifications, including detailed requirements for engine performance, transmission, axles, brakes, steering, and numerous other vehicle components. Potential vendors such as Mack, Peterbilt, Freightliner, Western Star, International, and Kenworth can submit quotes against the minimum requirements. The RFQ was posted on November 10, 2025, with bid submissions due by December 3, 2025, and bid evaluations scheduled from December 10, 2025. The awarded vendor must work directly with the digger derrick manufacturer to coordinate delivery and installation, and must provide a comprehensive factory guarantee covering design, material, and workmanship. Key evaluation criteria include compliance with technical specifications, vendor capability to stock parts, and the ability to deliver a chassis manufactured close to the current year.

The solicitation does not explicitly indicate any set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. Vendors must submit a complete bid package through the KTA's Euna Procurement portal, including a signed RFQ, detailed equipment sheet, and equipment specification sheet. The procurement includes standard warranty provisions, with a 1-year warranty for the cab and chassis, and a 5-year/100,000-mile warranty for engine and after-treatment components. While no specific budget range is provided, the RFQ emphasizes that the lowest bid price does not guarantee selection. The KTA reserves the right to review, accept, or reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities in the specifications. Delivery of the chassis will be FOB to a body builder, with the KTA retaining prorated payment until all specified requirements are met. The final bid selection is contingent on Board approval, scheduled for December 19, 2025.
