About this opportunity
The Illinois Department of Transportation is requesting bids on snow plow cutting edges for IDOT districts statewide under Invitation for Bid B51765, with bids due August 10, 2026. This is a rebid opportunity for Fiscal Year 2027.
The scope encompasses multiple cutting-edge product lines and configurations, including carbide blades for under-body applications, carbide dowel-type blade edges, 11-foot and 12-foot segmented blade systems with tungsten carbide cutting surfaces, 5-foot and 3-foot dual carbide underbody edges, and rubber cutting edges. All products are specified against detailed dimensional tolerances, material composition, hardness standards, and attachment specifications documented across multiple specification sheets (960-60-02, 960-60-03, 960-60-04, 960-60-06, M50-07, M128-02). Bidders must demonstrate manufacturing capability and provide shop drawings, descriptive literature clearly marking blade composition, warranty documentation, and compliance questionnaires. Manufacturers must have at least four years of active involvement in producing carbide-style blades and provide proof of serviceability within Illinois, including documented service locations and capacity for prompt parts and repair support.
Only established manufacturers or authorized dealers are eligible; dealers must provide authorization letters upon request. Vendors must guarantee delivery within quoted timeframes, with all equipment fully operational upon delivery. Manufacturers' standard warranties must cover manufacturing defects for a minimum two-year period commencing upon IDOT's in-service date, with all warranty service performed at no cost to the Department either on-site or at a dealer location within Illinois, and any delivery defects addressed within 30 days of in-service use.
Vendors must submit the appropriate vendor disclosure form — either the Illinois Procurement Gateway Active Registered Vendor Disclosure (for vendors with active State of Illinois Vendor Registration Numbers) or the Vendor Disclosure form (for unregistered vendors). Failure to provide complete disclosure information may render a response non-responsive. Bids will be evaluated on a best-value basis considering quality, delivery capability, compliance with specifications, and unit pricing. IDOT reserves the right to award to single or multiple vendors.
