About this opportunity

The State of Maine Division of Purchases is requesting quotations for the purchase and installation of a high-density compact storage system at the Maine State Museum's Hallowell and Augusta collections storage facilities, with quotes due October 23, 2013 and a mandatory walkthrough on September 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.

The procurement comprises two separately quoted components. Component 1 involves transporting and reinstalling an existing Systematics electrical compact storage unit (12 feet long, 24 5/8" wide) with a new raised floor and rail system on concrete flooring within one of the two facilities, including ramp access and installation of existing shelving on carriages. Component 2 requires purchase and installation of ten new mechanical-assist industrial carriages approximately 25 feet long to accommodate the museum's variable-depth wide-span pallet-rack shelving. Component 2 specifications include reinforced welded-steel construction, minimum 5-inch sealed ball-bearing wheels rated for 1,000 lbs. per carriage foot, solid wood flooring capable of supporting 3,000 lb motorized equipment and 2,000 lb loads, fully grouted anti-tip rail systems with integrated catch mechanisms, and 22-inch wide diamond-plate steel entrance ramps with powder-coat finish.

The State reserves the right to award one or both components. Project completion is due March 1, 2014, with penalties of $100 per work day for delays not caused by acts of God or circumstances beyond the supplier's control. Evaluation is weighted 75 points for Cost Proposal and 25 points for Organization Qualifications and Experience. All quotes must include proof of liability insurance and responses to mandatory questions on relevant museum or collections-based installation experience and implementation plans. Bidders must provide three references from comparable institutions. Interested parties should contact Paula Work, Museum Registrar, at 207-287-8109 or Paula.Work@Maine.gov to schedule mandatory walkthrough participation. All questions must be submitted through the online Question and Answer portal.
