About this opportunity
The Board of Water Works of Pueblo, Colorado is seeking a contractor for the Watts Tank Influent Piping project (P.N. 246002), a critical infrastructure replacement initiative located in Pueblo County. The project involves demolishing approximately 400 linear feet of existing 20-inch cast iron pipe and installing 400 linear feet of 20-inch Internal Restraint C900 pipe within a 5.8 million-gallon below-ground tank. Pueblo Water will provide key materials including pipes, flanges, valves, bolts, nuts, and roll-offs for scrap iron, while the contractor is responsible for supplementary construction materials such as epoxy paint, concrete touch-up supplies, grouting, and additional equipment. A mandatory pre-bid inspection was held on February 29, 2024, to determine specific requirements for pipe cradle installation and demolition. Sealed bids are due on April 30, 2024, at 2:00 PM, with the contract expected to be awarded by April 18, 2024, and project completion scheduled between October 1 and December 13, 2024. Bidders must register on BidNet Direct and can participate in the bid opening via conference call.
The contract requires contractors to utilize at least 80% Colorado labor and mandates specific insurance requirements, including general liability, workers' compensation, and umbrella liability coverage with Pueblo Water named as an additional insured. A 10% bid guarantee is required, and liquidated damages are set at $400 per day of default. While no specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises are explicitly mentioned, the project appears open to qualified contractors capable of meeting the technical specifications and insurance requirements. The estimated project budget is not directly stated, but the complexity of the infrastructure replacement and the detailed technical specifications suggest a significant investment in municipal water infrastructure. Contractors will need to demonstrate expertise in large-scale pipe replacement, concrete work, and municipal water system modifications, with the ability to work within a precise timeline and meet stringent technical and safety standards.
