About this opportunity
The College of Coastal Georgia, through the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, solicited sealed bids for Police Department Relocation project renovation (CCGA-2310) in Brunswick, Georgia, with bids due May 23, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. A mandatory pre-bid conference was held May 2, 2023.
The scope covers interior renovation of an existing 10,489 square-foot building to accommodate the police department in 2,292 square feet. Work includes selective demolition of existing interior walls and finishes, construction of new partitions including one-hour rated fire-rated walls, installation of flooring (vinyl composition tile and luxury vinyl plank), suspended ceiling systems, drywall finishing, door and frame installation, cabinetry and evidence storage lockers, lighting, electrical systems (including panel upgrades and automatic transfer switch for future emergency generator), HVAC modifications, fire alarm systems, and structured cabling telecommunications infrastructure. The project accommodates a 55-person occupancy load with spaces for administrative offices, secure evidence storage, interview rooms, dispatch operations, locker rooms, and public lobby. The building will remain partially occupied during construction; work hours allow 24/7 operations except disruptive noise-producing activities, limited to 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Bidders must be Low Voltage Licensed Telecommunications Contractors licensed in Georgia with minimum five years' structured cabling experience and a Registered Communications Distribution Designer on staff. All work must comply with the 2018 International Building Code, 2018 NFPA 101 Life Safety Code with Georgia State amendments, 2010 ADA Standards, NFPA 241 (2019), and OSHA requirements. The contractor must provide bid bond at not less than 5% of bid amount, performance bond and payment bond each at 100% of contract sum, and demonstrate current ratio of 1.0 or higher and Workers' Compensation Experience Modification Rate not exceeding average of 1.2 over three years.
The contract is lump-sum, awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Pre-commencement phase services must begin within 60 days of contract execution; physical construction completion is 180 consecutive calendar days from Proceed Order, with material completion by specified date. Three deductive alternates are available: deletion of RTU-4, deletion of solid surface counter at reception/lobby wall, and deletion of hollow metal door frames and finish hardware. Questions were due May 16, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. Addendum No. 2 was issued May 16, 2023, addressing specifications clarifications and new telecommunications infrastructure requirements.
