About this opportunity

Granite School District is seeking overnight charter services for the Cottonwood High School Performing Arts Department's travel from Murray, Utah to Anaheim, California from March 20-25, 2026. The procurement is an Invitation for Bid (IFB) requiring four full-size motorcoaches to transport 177 students and 17 adults, with overnight driving both to and from the destination. Bidders must meet comprehensive qualifications, including drivers holding valid Commercial Driver's Licenses with Passenger endorsements, current DOT medical certification, participation in DOT-compliant drug and alcohol testing programs, and completed criminal background checks. Insurance requirements are stringent, mandating $5,000,000 Combined Single Limit for bodily injury and property damage per Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, plus additional $1,000,000 per occurrence coverage. The bid must be submitted electronically through the Bonfire Utah Public Procurement Place (U3P) platform or in sealed written form to the Granite School District Purchasing Department by January 21, 2026, with pricing to remain firm for 60 days from the bid due date.

The solicitation does not specify specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder meeting all specifications, with the district retaining the right to evaluate bids comprehensively. While no incumbent vendor is explicitly mentioned, the procurement requires compliance with Utah state procurement laws, specifically referencing Utah Code 63G-6a-1203, which establishes guidelines for governmental contract provisions. The total contract value is not explicitly stated, but the scope involves transporting 194 total passengers across a six-day interstate journey, which suggests a substantial charter service contract. The successful bidder will be responsible for all associated costs including fuel, driver labor, and vehicle maintenance, with the ultimate goal of safely transporting the Cottonwood High School Performing Arts Department to various California destinations including the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Pantages Theatre, Disneyland, and California State Long Beach university clinics.
