About this opportunity
The City of South Salt Lake is issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to establish an Electrical Services Pool for on-call electrical services to support multiple city departments, including Engineering, Public Works, and Neighborhoods. The procurement seeks qualified electricians to provide repair, replacement, and maintenance of streetlights; inspection and troubleshooting of high and low voltage electrical systems; testing and locating electrical problems; connecting wiring and power cables; and servicing equipment including light ballasts, photocells, backup generators, pump motors, fire alarm panels, programmable logic controllers, and SCADA systems. Contractors must demonstrate emergency response capability on a 24/7 basis with responses within 30 minutes of request and field service within 90 minutes, with normal business hours operating 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Personnel assigned to projects must hold a non-restricted electrical contractor's license, and contractors are responsible for supplying all equipment, materials, parts, and supplies unless the City specifies otherwise. The Statement of Qualifications, limited to four single-sided pages with 12-point minimum font, will be evaluated based on overall experience and qualifications (30%), cost of services (50%), references (20%), and compliance with RFQ requirements. Statements of Qualifications must be submitted by 2:00 p.m. Mountain Time on May 8, 2026, through the Utah Public Procurement Place website (Bonfire), with the winning contractor(s) to be notified by May 15, 2026, and contract negotiations completed by June 15, 2026; inquiries must be directed to City Recorder Ariel Andrus at (801) 483-6019 or aandrus@sslc.gov and must be received at least 48 hours prior to the submittal deadline.
No specific set-asides or restrictions targeting disadvantaged enterprises, minority-owned businesses, or other protected classifications are identified in the procurement documents. No incumbent vendors or current contractors are listed. Contractors must be registered with a State Verification System to verify work eligibility of employees in Utah and must maintain workers' compensation insurance with employer's liability coverage of at least $1,000,000 per accident and general liability insurance of at least $2,000,000 per occurrence and $3,000,000 in the aggregate, naming the City as an additional insured. Compensation will be paid on a monthly invoice basis at the hourly rates submitted in the fee schedule, with payment within 30 days of invoice receipt. The resulting Electrical Services Agreement will expire on June 30, 2028, and the prequalified pool will remain valid for five years before requiring re-qualification through a new RFQ process. No specific budget range or award value is disclosed in the procurement documents; pricing will be determined through the contractors' submitted fee schedules listing hourly rates for each team member.
