About this opportunity

Northview Public Schools of Grand Rapids, Michigan is soliciting trade contractor bids for the NVPS Athletics Stadium Addition and Renovation, with bids due November 10, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. ET through Procore Bidding, amended from the November 3 date in earlier bid documents and from the 3:00 p.m. time in Bid Clarification 04. Bidders are encouraged to utilize minority, woman, and handicapped-owned businesses. Combined bids are accepted only from pre-qualified companies bidding multiple bid categories. Rockford Construction, the construction manager, issues the bid clarifications on the district's behalf, and Integrated Design Solutions is the architect.

The scope spans selective demolition, cast-in-place concrete, masonry, structural steel, general trades, roofing, aluminum framing and glazing, drywall, flooring, painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, excavation, asphalt, landscape and irrigation, synthetic turf (Bid Package 32D, including base and drainage systems), all-weather track surfacing, fencing and protective netting (Bid Package 32C), and athletic equipment. Addendum No. 2, introduced with Bid Clarification 05, adds a metal band tower with dual viewing platforms to the General Trades scope. Addendum No. 1, issued October 22, 2026, reissues numerous specification sections and deletes Section 32 32 16. Concrete must reach 3,500 psi at 28 days. Air barriers require ABAA evaluation, and door hardware consultants must hold Door and Hardware Institute certification. Hardware procurement requires single-source responsibility. Pending RFIs remain open with the design team on turf grading and certain exterior and civil items.

Bids require a bid security of 5 percent of the base bid. Performance and labor and material payment bonds covering 100 percent of contract value must be priced separately and excluded from the base bid. No single trade contract may exceed 50 percent of the lump sum base bid without written approval from Rockford Construction. Bids remain firm for 90 days from opening. Prevailing wages do not apply, and Michigan use and sales tax apply. Required insurance includes commercial general liability of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, employers liability of $1,000,000, automobile liability of $1,000,000 combined single limit, and umbrella liability of $2,000,000. Sworn and notarized affidavits, including a familial-relationship disclosure with school board members, are due with the bid.

The mandatory pre-bid walkthrough occurred October 6, 2026, and the question deadline of September 10, 2026 has passed. Post-bid interviews run November 11 through November 25, 2026 via Zoom. The anticipated award date is December 15, 2026, with construction starting in Fall 2027 and completion per the Phasing Plan in the Project Manual.
