About this opportunity

The Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Radiation Control (BRC) is seeking to procure two neutron radiation detectors that are compatible with the mobile radiation detection systems manufactured by Radiation Solutions Inc. (RSI) and currently owned by the BRC, the Florida Highway Patrol, the Department of Energy, and the Department of Homeland Security. The BRC is requesting authorization to purchase the neutron detectors from RSI as a single source, as RSI is the sole manufacturer of neutron detectors compatible with the existing RSI mobile systems. The neutron detectors must integrate seamlessly with the RSI mobile systems to maximize capabilities during radiological/nuclear search missions across the collaborating agencies. The posting period for this intended single source award is from April 18, 2022, to April 20, 2022, with a total price of $126,400 for the two detectors.

The contract opportunity is restricted to a single source, RSI, as they are the only provider of neutron detectors compatible with the existing RSI mobile radiation detection systems owned by the various agencies. There are no set-aside designations or restrictions on the types of organizations that can respond. The incumbent vendor is RSI, as they are the sole manufacturer of the required neutron detectors. The intended award value for this single source contract is $126,400.
