About this opportunity
The Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation is requesting bids on standing seam metal roof installation at Montgomery Bell State Park Visitor Center, Burns, Tennessee, with bids due August 10, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. CDT and a pre-bid site visit on July 27, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Bidders must hold an active BC-B or BC-C Tennessee Building Contractor license prior to bid submission, verified through the Tennessee Commerce and Insurance database; failure to provide copies results in disqualification.
The scope includes complete removal and disposal of the existing roof system with inspection and replacement of up to 500 square feet of damaged decking, installation of ice and water shield underlayment, standing seam metal roofing in dark brown 24-gauge with ridge and eave components covering approximately 6,500 square feet, approximately 200 linear feet of six-inch aluminum gutters with downspouts, approximately 150 linear feet of underground storm drainage piping, masonry tuckpointing repairs in three locations, split-face concrete masonry unit repairs, framing inspection and repairs to the Visitor Center walkway, and reconstruction of an HVAC duct enclosure using ZIP System sheathing and James Hardie board-and-batten siding. Material substitutions require pre-approval; specified manufacturers include Watson or Taylor for standing seam roofing, James Hardie for siding and trim, Huber ZIP or equal for sheathing, and Sherwin Williams or PPG paint in Park Brown. All work must be completed between contract receipt and September 30, 2026. Workmanship is warranted for one year from final inspection; materials are covered under manufacturer warranties.
The estimated contract value exceeds $100,000, triggering formal competitive bonding: bids exceeding $100,000 require a payment bond equal to twenty-five percent of the contract price. The contract is awarded as single award to the lowest-cost responsive and responsible bidder. Bidders must be registered with the Tennessee Department of Revenue for sales and use tax, and the State of Tennessee is exempt from excise taxes — these shall not be included in pricing. Questions are due July 29, 2026. Bid opening is August 15, 2026.
