About this opportunity
Canonsburg Borough is seeking contractors for the McBurney Road Culvert Remediation project, which consists of two distinct contracts focused on storm culvert maintenance and flood mitigation. Contract One involves heavy jet cleaning of sediments from existing culverts, with contractors expected to remove approximately 115-120 lb/ft3 of debris, while Contract Two requires installation of a 24-inch sloped precast concrete trench drain across McBurney Road. The project's comprehensive scope includes CCTV culvert inspection, debris removal and hauling, installation of a rip rap apron, roadway restoration, asphalt wedge curb installation, and temporary erosion and sediment controls. Optional bid items include culvert extensions, backfilling, new headwall installations with trash racks, and rebuilding inlet grates and risers. Bid submissions are due by August 25, 2025, with both contracts requiring a 10% Bid Bond and 100% Performance and Payment Bonds. Contract One is maintenance-only and does not require prevailing wage rates, while Contract Two for structural work mandates state prevailing wage rates and a 100% warranty bond.
The procurement does not specify explicit set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. Contract requirements suggest potential bidders should have specialized expertise in culvert maintenance, storm drainage infrastructure, and road restoration. While specific budget ranges are not disclosed in the documentation, the comprehensive nature of the project implies a substantial investment in infrastructure improvement. Contract One focuses on maintenance, whereas Contract Two involves more complex structural work, indicating potential differentiated qualification levels for bidders. The project spans Washington County and involves Canonsburg Borough, suggesting local contractors might have a competitive advantage. Both contracts will require technical proficiency in jet cleaning, concrete installation, roadway restoration, and erosion control. Contractors should be prepared to demonstrate capabilities in heavy civil infrastructure maintenance and construction, with specific attention to drainage system remediation and municipal infrastructure improvements.
