About this opportunity
Oakland University is seeking proposals for the Meadow Brook Hall Rock Garden Reconstruction project, located in Rochester, Michigan, within Macomb County and Riverview City. The procurement involves comprehensive landscaping reconstruction at the Meadow Brook Hall Estate, specifically targeting the existing Rock Wall Garden. Contractors will be responsible for removing and safely storing existing rock/stone materials, demolishing current landscaping, and resetting rock materials into a new, secure wall pattern that requires approval from Meadow Brook Hall management. The project's key deliverables include maintaining the existing irrigation system, restoring lawn areas, and installing new anchor trees and plantings within a designated budget allowance. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for April 24, 2025, at 2 PM at Meadow Brook Hall's Main Entry, with electronic bid responses due by May 8, 2025, at 2 PM. The work timeline specifies project commencement on October 13, 2025, with mandatory completion by November 17, 2025. Contractors will be evaluated based on experience, financial stability, technical capabilities, and ability to meet project safety requirements, with liquidated damages of $100 per work day for delays beyond the specified completion date.
The contract does not explicitly indicate specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. Bidders must provide a bid security of 5% of the bid amount and obtain performance and labor/material bonds for 100% of the contract value. Contractors are required to comply with Michigan prevailing wage rates and provide comprehensive insurance certificates. The project includes a $3,500 allowance for new anchor plantings and trees, with contractors expected to install 6-foot temporary fencing, repair any project-related damage, and provide a two-year warranty. While no specific budget range is detailed, contractors will need to submit itemized costs and demonstrate financial capability to complete the project. The university reserves the right to accept or reject any bid and will require successful contractors to adhere to Oakland University's smoke-free campus policy. Additional compliance requirements include detailed wage rate regulations and specific provisions for worker compensation across multiple trade classifications.
