About this file
This document is a project description and scope of work for the Meadow Brook Hall Rock Garden Restoration at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. The project involves reconstructing the existing rock wall garden, with work to begin in mid-October and be completed by mid-November 2025. Key scope elements include removing and storing existing rock/stone materials, demolishing current landscaping and plantings, resetting rock materials to form a new wall pattern (to be approved by Meadow Brook Hall management), maintaining the existing irrigation system, and restoring the lawn area.
The project includes a $2,500 allowance for new anchor trees and plantings, to be coordinated with management. Contractors will be required to install 6-foot temporary fencing with windscreen to block the work area from Meadow Brook Hall guests, repair any damage created during the project, install 4 inches of topsoil in the planting area, and provide a two-year warranty. The project documentation includes site maps showing contractor access routes, work area limits, and detailed images of the current rock garden condition. Contractors are expected to meet onsite with Oakland University and Meadow Brook Hall staff prior to beginning work to walk through the project plan.
