About this opportunity
The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District is soliciting bids for the Lone Madrone Corrals Replacement Project located in La Honda Creek Open Space Preserve in San Mateo County, California. The procurement involves comprehensive infrastructure replacement for a grazing unit, specifically requiring removal and disposal of existing wooden corrals, infrastructure, loading chutes, livestock scales, and sorting pens. Contractors will construct wildlife-friendly livestock fencing (including 6-rail pipe and 4-rail HDPE options), build new corral facilities with processing pens, an alley, "Bud box", lead-up, squeeze/chute, gooseneck and semi-truck load-out areas, and install two heavy-duty gates. Bidders must hold either a Class B-General Building Contractor or Class C-13 Fencing Contractor license. Key procurement dates include a mandatory pre-bid meeting and site visit on May 13, 2025, written questions due by May 16, 2025, bid responses due by 12:00 pm on June 4, 2025, contract award anticipated on June 25, 2025, and project completion scheduled for September 30, 2025. Bids must be hand-delivered or mailed to Matthew Shapero at the District's Administrative Office in Los Altos, California.
No specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises were explicitly mentioned in the procurement documents. The estimated total project budget is approximately $377,000, which covers general conditions, mobilization, materials, construction, clean-up, overhead, and profit. A 10% bid guarantee is required, and the District will award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder, reserving the right to reject any or all bids. Additional requirements include submission of a non-collusion affidavit, certificates of reported compliance from the California Air Resources Board, and adherence to prevailing wage regulations. The project emphasizes environmental sensitivity, requiring contractors to prepare a waste-stream diversion plan with a goal of recycling 100% of concrete, non-treated wood, steel, metal, and cabling. Contractors must also participate in a worker education seminar on protected species and be prepared to coordinate with district biologists and monitors throughout the construction process.
