About this file

This document is Section D-3 Supplemental Conditions for the Lone Madrone Corrals Replacement Project, issued by the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District in San Mateo County, California. The project involves replacing cattle corrals and associated infrastructure on the Lone Madrone Grazing Unit within the La Honda Creek Open Space Preserve. The scope of work includes removing existing wooden corrals, infrastructure, and fencing, and constructing new wildlife-friendly livestock fencing, processing pens, an alley, "Bud box", lead-up, squeeze/chute, gooseneck and semi-truck load out areas, and associated gates. The project is scheduled for bid submission by 12:00 pm on June 4, 2025, with contract award on June 25, 2025, and construction to be completed by September 30, 2025. A mandatory pre-bid meeting and site visit is scheduled for May 16, 2025.

Bidders must be either a Class B-General Building Contractor or Class C-13 Fencing Contractor. The bid must be hand-delivered or mailed to Matthew Shapero at the District's Administrative Office in Los Altos. The project includes specific environmental considerations, such as a required worker education seminar on protected species in the region, and strict protocols for site access, noise control, and storm water management. Contractors will need to prepare a waste-stream diversion plan and are required to recycle 100% of concrete, non-treated wood, steel, metal, and cabling. The project emphasizes environmental sensitivity, with provisions for potential stand-down time if protected species are encountered and requirements for coordinating with district biologists and monitors throughout the construction process.
