About this opportunity

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is seeking bids for the replacement of all passenger seats on its fleet of 53 light rail vehicles (LRV) under contract LR-23-066-EQ. The contractor will be required to provide and install new fiberglass material seat bottoms and backs while retaining the existing seat frames. All necessary seat parts, hardware, brackets, and installation services must be furnished by the contractor. The IFB outlines detailed requirements for the First Article Inspection (FAI) and subsequent production runs, with no production seats to be shipped until the FAI is approved. The total quantities include 3,816 transverse seat backs, 636 flip-up seat backs, and 4,452 seat bottoms. The contract has a three-year base period, and bids will be evaluated based on price and other factors to determine the most advantageous offer for the state. Key dates include a January 12, 2024 bid due date, with previous addenda extending the deadline from earlier dates.

The IFB does not establish any Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) or Veteran-Owned Small Business Enterprise (VSBE) goals. The contract is open to all qualified bidders, and no incumbent vendors or integration requirements are specified. The IFB does not provide the estimated contract value or budget range, but invoicing will be on a per-completed-unit basis, with the contractor responsible for disposing of the old seats.
