About this opportunity
The Mercer County Park Commission is soliciting sealed electronic bids for janitorial services at six park facilities, due November 25, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. through BidNet Direct. The bid is a set-aside for Qualified Women's Business Enterprises, Qualified Minority Business Enterprises, Qualified Small Business Enterprises, and Qualified Veteran Business Enterprises. Bidders must be certified through the State of New Jersey and verifiable on the New Jersey Selective Assistance Vendor Information (NJSAVI) database. The County issued the Advertisement for Bids for the Commission.
Services cover six locations: Howell Living History Farm (approximately 3,000 square feet plus barn wing areas), Mercer County Wildlife Center (approximately 2,800 square feet), Historic Hunt House (approximately 4,568 square feet), Historic Hunt Barn (approximately 7,432 square feet), Mercer County Recreation and Events Center (approximately 2,200 square feet), and Park Ranger Headquarters (approximately 1,000 square feet). Tasks include waste removal, carpet and floor care, disinfection of restrooms, and dusting and cleaning of fixtures. Some work is periodic, such as annual vinyl floor stripping and waxing, semi-annual carpet shampooing, and weekly glass door cleaning at the barn wing. The contractor must supply all labor, supervision, equipment, cleaning products, and supplies. The County prefers natural, non-toxic, biodegradable cleaning supplies where possible. Bidders must have at least three years of janitorial experience and submit examples with their bid. Each employee requires a criminal background check.
The contract runs January 1, 2027 through December 31, 2027, with an option to extend through December 31, 2028. Bidders must price each facility as cost per square foot for both years, and the lowest two-year total cost wins. Insurance requirements include General Liability of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, Automobile Insurance of $1,000,000 combined single limit, and statutory Workers' Compensation. The contract is subject to New Jersey prevailing wage requirements, Public Works Contractor Registration Act compliance, and affirmative action and equal employment opportunity regulations. Invoicing is monthly, itemized by location. The Commission may add locations during the term based on formal contractor pricing.
Site visits are not mandatory and can be arranged with Brent Koehler, Manager, at bkoehler@mercercounty.org or 609-303-0708.
