About this opportunity

Brevard County is pursuing a sole source procurement for Amerex fire suppression equipment maintenance services through the Solid Waste Department, with FQS Bear Equipment identified as the exclusive vendor. The contract specifically covers maintenance and service for Caterpillar equipment with Amerex systems, which cannot be obtained from alternative local vendors. The procurement is being conducted through a Single/Sole Source Justification and Approval Form, with a tracking ID of 4561114, and involves specialized technical services that require specific expertise in Amerex system maintenance. The notice of intended decision was posted on 11/15/2024 and will remain open until 11/20/2024 at 12:00 pm on the Vendor Link platform. Key contact for this procurement is Angel Boss from Brevard County, who can be reached at (321) 617-7390 or angel.boss@brevardfl.gov, and who will manage potential vendor responses and alternative submissions. The estimated annual purchase amount for these services is $25,000.00, with the justification emphasizing that FQS Bear is the only local company that has previously serviced the county's equipment and is the preferred vendor of Ring Power for this specialized work.

The procurement appears to have no specific set-aside designations or restrictions on organizational respondents, though the sole source nature effectively limits competition. The incumbent and proposed vendor is FQS Bear Equipment, with Shannon Boling serving as the primary contact at (803) 957-4946 or shannon@fqs-inc.com. While no explicit infrastructure integration requirements are specified, the procurement is focused on maintaining existing Caterpillar equipment with Amerex fire suppression systems. The sole source justification suggests that no alternative vendors can provide substantially similar services, though the county leaves open the possibility of canceling the notice and pursuing a formal solicitation if alternative vendors can demonstrate equivalent capabilities. The contract appears to be an annual procurement with a fixed budget of $25,000.00, designed to cover equipment maintenance services not included under existing warranties. Statutory certifications under Florida Statutes Chapter 838 have been completed, and the procurement has received approvals from the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners, including signatures from the requisitioner and Central Services Office Director.
