About this opportunity

The Jordan School District is conducting an Invitation for Bid (IFB #26DB29) for the procurement and installation of shade canopies at two high schools: Bingham High School (2160 West South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah 84095) and West Jordan High School (8136 South 2700 West, West Jordan, Utah 84088). This construction procurement requires bidders to provide footings, piers, and new canopy installations per architectural drawings and specifications, with Bingham High School offering two alternates that include canopy installation and optional removal/replacement of existing soft fall surfacing and play structures. Successful bidders must hold a valid State of Utah contractor's license with a minimum of five years' experience, comply with all federal, state, and local laws including E-Verify requirements, and maintain comprehensive insurance coverage including worker's compensation, general liability ($2,000,000 combined single limit), employee liability ($1,000,000 per occurrence), automobile liability ($1,000,000), and umbrella coverage ($5,000,000). The project design follows the 2021 International Building Code with specific structural requirements including Risk Category III classification, 20 psf roof live loads, 30 psf snow loads plus drift, 109 mph basic design wind speed, and Seismic Design Category D standards. Bidders must submit electronically through Utah Public Procurement Place (U3P) Bonfire by Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. MDT, with a mandatory pre-bid walk-through on Monday, April 6, 2026 (9:30 a.m. MDT at Bingham High School and 10:30 a.m. MDT at West Jordan High School), and written inquiries due by Friday, April 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. MDT. Work must commence June 8, 2026, and be completed by August 7, 2026, with liquidated damages of $500 per calendar day assessed for missed completion deadlines.

Bids exceeding $50,000 require a 5% bid bond from a corporate surety licensed in Utah and listed in the US Treasury Circular 270 with an AM Best Rating of A-VIII or better, and the successful contractor must furnish performance and payment bonds equal to the total bid price prior to commencing work. All bidders must comply with Utah Code 63G-27 (S.B. 97) by certifying non-engagement in prohibited economic boycotts, including boycotts of the State of Israel, and must comply with the Jordan School District's Standard Terms and Conditions, which include payment terms of net 30 days following delivery or correct invoice receipt, a one-year warranty requirement for all products, and comprehensive compliance obligations under Utah Senate Bill 81, the Utah Anti-discrimination Act, and Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. The bid documents do not specify award values or budget ranges; however, bidders must include a $10,000 construction allowance in their base and alternate bid costs. The bid shall remain valid for thirty days after the receipt date, and the award will be made separately to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder for each school location. No incumbent vendors or set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises are referenced in the procurement documents, and all sales materials for Utah school districts are exempt from sales tax under Utah Code 59-12-104, requiring submission of the TC-721G Tax Exemption Certificate form.
