About this opportunity

The Kansas Department of Transportation is requesting sealed bids for grading, bridge, and surfacing work on the SLT/K-10 corridor in Douglas County, spanning 1.198 miles from the I-70/K-10 Junction south to 3,500 feet north of the K-10/US-40 Junction, with bids due September 16, 2026.

Addendum 1, issued September 3, 2026, makes a Critical Path Method (CPM) Schedule requirement (Special Provision 15-PS0263-R2) mandatory. The contractor must designate a qualified Scheduler with a minimum of five years of dedicated scheduling professional experience and submit a Baseline Schedule for Engineer approval before work commences; the Engineer has ten business days for review. Progress schedules must be submitted every two weeks with three-week look-ahead reports and critical activity analyses. CPM Schedule is a lump-sum bid item with milestone payments: 50 percent upon Baseline Schedule acceptance, 75 percent when 50 percent of the original contract is completed, and 25 percent upon Notice of Acceptance with all records submitted. Time extension evaluations follow AACEI Recommended Practice No. 52R-06. Change order fragnets are due ten business days after the contractor has substantive information. Recovery plans are required for delays exceeding 28 calendar days.

The project includes grading, bridge construction or repair, and surfacing; materials, traffic control, environmental, asphalt surfacing, concrete, and structural special provisions are specified. All bidders must comply with Kansas Department of Transportation prequalification and licensing requirements and prevailing wage requirements for public works projects. Award will be made to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Prime contractor bid holders must sign and return the Addendum 1 acknowledgment to Joshua Matyi at Joshua.Matyi@ks.gov and inform subcontractors and suppliers of contractual changes. Project documents are accessible through KDOT's website and Bid Express platform.
