About this opportunity

The Kansas Department of Transportation is requesting sealed bids for grading, bridge, and surfacing work on US-77 in Cowley County spanning 8.805 miles from 1.86 miles north of the US-77/US-166 junction past South Winfield city limits to the south edge of the wearing surface of Walnut River Bridges #009 and #074, with bids due June 17, 2026.

The scope includes grading, bridge work, and surfacing operations across the project corridor. Addendum 2, posted May 29, 2026, revises four required special provisions for unit costs on sanitary sewer systems, furnishing and planting plant materials, water systems, and electric lighting system components. For sanitary sewer and water systems, all work must comply with local entity specifications except where superseded by KDOT standard sections or plan details; standard fittings are considered subsidiary items not separately quantified. Prime contractors must acknowledge receipt of both Addendum 1 and Addendum 2 by signing and dating the addenda and returning them to Joshua Matyi at Joshua.Matyi@ks.gov; failure to acknowledge will result in bids being declared irregular.

Contractors must submit completed spreadsheets for unit costs on each of the four systems using KDOT-provided templates no later than noon on the Friday after the letting day (June 20, 2026). Unit costs must be calculated so that the sum of unit costs multiplied by the Summary of Quantities in the plans equals the respective lump sum price bid for each system; submissions that do not meet this requirement will be rejected and require resubmittal. All contractors are responsible for informing subcontractors and suppliers of addendum changes. Award will be made to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Contractors must access the updated EBS file through Bid Express at http://www.bidx.com to ensure proposals include all amendments.
