About this opportunity

Providence Hall, a Utah educational institution, issued a Request for Statement of Qualifications (RSQ) for architectural design services for the APEX Center and campus expansion, with submissions due September 17, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. Mountain Time. This solicitation has closed; Providence Hall has issued a Notice of Award Recommendation dated September 21, 2026, recommending CORE Architecture as the selected firm.

The scope encompasses architectural design and related services for a new APEX Center building of approximately 3,700 square feet on the existing Providence Hall campus, supporting health sciences, nursing, agricultural science, and veterinary science programs, with consideration of future campus grounds expansion and building reconfiguration. Services will align with AIA Document B101 (Standard Form of Agreement Between Owner and Architect) and may be performed in phases or as a single phase. The target completion and operational date for the APEX Center building is August 2027.

Eleven firms submitted qualifications. Providence Hall evaluated submissions against four weighted criteria: firm qualifications and experience (20 points), strength of proposed team and individual references (35 points), past performance and references related to school construction (25 points), and design ability with similar project scope (20 points). CORE Architecture scored 89 out of 100 points overall, ranking first, with 25 out of 25 points in past performance and references, 30 out of 35 in team strength, 18 out of 20 in firm qualifications, and 16 out of 20 in design ability. Competing firms ranged from 86 points (second place) to 16 points (eleventh place).

The selected firm must maintain professional liability insurance with errors and omissions coverage of at least $1 million annual aggregate limit, be properly licensed to conduct business in Utah, and submit to background checks for any employees working at Providence Hall facilities. Pricing terms are to be negotiated separately with the awarded firm. Inquiries regarding the evaluation or award outcome should be directed to Nate Marshall at nmarshall@providencehall.com.
