The Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources is requesting bids for general repairs and reroofing services at two comfort stations within Wailua River State Park in Kapaa, Kauai, with bids due August 24, 2026. The base bid covers the Kaumualii Comfort Station; the Old Smiths Landing Comfort Station is an additive alternate.
Scope includes roof demolition and installation of new corrugated metal roofing (22 gauge, medium grey); approximately 20 percent rafter or truss replacement anticipated due to dry rot; replacement of bathroom fixtures with commercial-grade stainless steel components (toilets, urinals, sinks, faucets); window slat repairs; interior and exterior repainting; installation of new tongue-and-groove teak decking; copper flashing at valleys and edges; and high-temperature self-adhering synthetic membrane waterproof underlayment. Contractor responsibilities include securing personnel, licenses, general excise tax licenses, tax clearance certificates from the State Director of Taxation and Internal Revenue Service, certificates of compliance from the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, and certificates of good standing from the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs. Final payment is contingent upon submission of required tax clearance certificates. Payment is subject to available funds and allotment by the Director of Finance.
