About this opportunity

Granite School District is requesting statements of qualifications from general contractors for construction services on two K–12 education projects—an addition to Taylorsville High School and a complete rebuild of West Kearns Elementary—with proposals due September 29, 2026. Contractors must hold a Utah B100 general contractor license and demonstrate a minimum of five years' experience in K–12 educational facility construction for projects between 80,000 and 250,000 square feet. The Taylorsville High School project comprises approximately 48,240 square feet of new construction and 29,725 square feet of renovations at 5225 South Redwood Road, including office space, classrooms, athletic rooms, rebuilt tennis courts, and a drivers education tower; construction is anticipated to start in late November 2026 with substantial completion targeted for July 2029. The West Kearns Elementary project is a complete rebuild of approximately 94,000 square feet of two-story construction at 4900 S 4620 W in Kearns, featuring classroom wings, administrative offices, commons/dining area, multi-purpose room, and media center; construction is scheduled to start in early January 2027 with substantial completion targeted for July 2028.

Evaluation criteria are weighted: 27 percent for Statement of Qualifications, 60 percent for Construction Management Approach, 10 percent for References, and 3 percent for Insurance. A minimum score of 225 points (75 percent) is required for prequalification. Contractors must provide five references from similar completed projects, maintain Commercial General Liability insurance with minimum per-occurrence limits of $1,000,000 and aggregate limits of $3,000,000, and furnish 100% Full Performance and 100% Material and Labor Full Payment Bonds. Liquidated damages are set at $500.00 per calendar day for failure to substantially complete work within the specified timeframe. Questions were due September 25, 2026. The Taylorsville High School bid package is anticipated for release the week of October 5, 2026, with bids due October 29, 2026 and Board approval November 10, 2026; the West Kearns Elementary bid package is scheduled for release November 16, 2026, with bids due December 10, 2026 and Board approval January 5, 2027.
