About this opportunity
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), an agency of the State of Wisconsin Board of Regents, is seeking a contractor to furnish and install new batteries for a Mitsubishi 9800 750kVA Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system located at the Kenwood Interdisciplinary Research Center. The project requires the complete replacement of an existing battery bank, specifically involving the disconnection, removal, and disposal of 120 existing batteries and installation of new 1045B UPS Data Rm batteries. Contractor responsibilities include verifying proper functioning of the charging system, measuring battery string float voltage and current, and providing a comprehensive test results report prior to invoice payment. Bidders must have a minimum of three years of experience in the UPS battery business and provide references for similar Mitsubishi equipment work. The Request for Bid (RFB) was released on February 19, 2021, with questions due by February 26, 2021, at noon, and bids due on March 4, 2021, at 2:00 PM. A public bid opening was scheduled via Teams conference call, with site inspections available upon request.
The procurement includes potential set-aside preferences for Minority Business Enterprises or Disabled Veteran-Owned Business firms, with a 5% bid preference if their qualified bid is not more than 5% higher than the apparent low bid. The contract is a one-time purchase and installation project with no renewal options, and pricing must be submitted as a total net installed bid in U.S. dollars, remaining firm for 60 days from bid opening. Award will be made to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder determined to be in UWM's best interests. The successful contractor must maintain workers' compensation insurance and commercial liability insurance of at least $1,000,000 for bodily injury and property damage. Equipment will be warranted against defects for one year from receipt, with the equipment manufacturer's standard warranty as a minimum. Payment terms include disbursement within 30 days of proper invoice submission upon acceptance of installed equipment. Delivery is FOB Destination, with all packing, freight, insurance, setup, instruction, and manual costs included in the bid price, and the contractor bearing all risk of loss.
