About this opportunity
This state and local contract opportunity is for the acquisition of environmentally preferable cleaning products, programs, equipment, and supplies for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and other participating states, including Connecticut, Maryland, New Hampshire, New York, and Rhode Island. The resulting statewide contract will cover a wide range of green cleaning categories, such as cleaning and facility maintenance chemicals, disinfectants, janitorial supplies and equipment, and powered janitorial equipment. Bidders must meet mandatory specifications related to green certifications, ingredient restrictions, packaging requirements, and controlled-dose dispensing systems. The evaluation process will consider the bidder's existing sustainability policies, environmental business practices, and certifications as part of the "best value" determination. Bids are due on February 21, 2023, and the contract will have an initial 2-year term with the option to renew for up to 3 additional 1-year terms.
The procurement encourages participation from small and minority-owned businesses, and bidders must commit at least 1% of contract sales to certified diverse businesses. The Commonwealth reserves the right to set aside a portion of the contract for such firms. The current incumbent vendor(s) are not identified, and the estimated contract value is $15 million annually. Funding for the contract will come from the budgets of the participating state and local government entities, but the exact funding sources and amounts are not disclosed.
