About this opportunity
The City of Detroit Office of Contracting and Procurement is soliciting emergency quotes for residential demolition at 9501 Greensboro under an RFQ due October 15, 2026. Respondents must be prequalified by the City of Detroit Non-Proposal Demolition Program to be eligible for award, and all bids remain binding for 120 calendar days after the quote deadline.
The scope encompasses demolition of a two-story, single-family brick dwelling with severe structural deterioration, including a collapsing roof, failed framing, and overhead life safety risks to adjacent occupied dwellings. Work includes site demarcation and safety notifications within 400 feet; mechanical demolition with wetting and dust control; removal and disposal of all debris to licensed Type II landfills; backfill and grading to restore the site to grade level; and asbestos abatement where required. Backfill material must meet Michigan Part 201 Residential Cleanup Criteria and be sourced from a City-approved Category 2 source. Site demarcation must be completed within one calendar day of Notice to Proceed, demolition within three calendar days, and backfill and grading within fourteen calendar days of Open Hole Approval. Field supervisors must hold OSHA Lead Awareness Training; at least one operator or laborer per site must hold asbestos awareness training. The contractor bears full responsibility for all equipment, materials, personnel, permits, and corrective work at no additional cost to the City. Payment is contingent on pre-invoice approval of completion documentation; no upward price adjustments are permitted for weather, utility delays, or additional wetting requirements.
Respondents must submit responses via the City of Detroit Oracle iSupplier Portal with a completed price sheet, professional rate schedule (both in .XLSX format), and signature page from an authorized representative. A site visit with a date-stamped photograph is mandatory before bid submission. The successful vendor must provide 100% performance and payment bonds and a Certificate of Insurance within five business days of award. Award will be made to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder with consideration for local preferences. The City reserves the right to withhold or rescind award at any time.
